Cocoa Farmers

These are the people that work very hard to farm cacao trees. Cocoa farmers around the world struggle with the same problems as other farmers: pests, disease, drought, anything like that. The World Cocoa Foundation is one of the groups that tries to help these farmers grow their cacao trees. This organization aims at helping the farm families and helping them earn an easier living. The group is also giving cocoa farmers special training for learning better ways to farm. They also teach the farmers how to preserve the environment, therefore making it a better place for the cacao trees to grow in. They are getting more teachers to train these farmers. Another good thing that is happening for the cocoa farmers is that some governments provide pesticides for them. But this is also bad, because the pesticides are usually not safe to use, and although they help the plant, they do not help the human. Using pesticides could be very dangerous to the farmers' health.
